We've been metric in the UK for nearly 40 years!!!
You COULD try a backward country like the American colonies or just use 1cm and adapt.

Alright, who here uses graph paper for patterns, drafting, etc? Can anyone recommend a good source? I'm looking to buy it by the roll online -- yards of it. I think it could come in really handy for certain projects. Anyone? Thank you much. |

I am not sure where you could get exactly what you want but with an CAD "Graph Paper" drawing you would probably get it printed to scale in large format at Kinko's. Just an idea! |

I get it from drafting supply companies. They stock rolls in any size and grid. Additionally I also use drafting film (tracing paper) to trace from plans. It is available mylar or acetate in different thicknesses and widths in roll form and is very handy for transferring the dimensions from a plan or from an instrument to working plans. The stuff I use is .005" acetate, has a matte finish so it feels like paper when drawing and even when using pencil the lines will stay but can be erased later with a gum eraser. The rolls are 25 inches wide by 100 feet long so I can do full size guitar plans easily. I do not have a good place online as I tend to go to local places as once I am there I always see other things that can be adapted to use for guitar building. |

the only guitar specific thing for which i have ever used graph paper was in the design of classical rosette tiles. the 1mm grads were perfect for the task. |

any decent office or educational supplkies should have it. I inherited about 5 reams of A2 1cm squared paper when I moved to my current school. |

hobby supply, art supply, drafting supply (wider formats 36" & 42") all will carry graph papers in 1/16" to 1" divisions some with 45 deg segments as well |

Ok, so where in Britain can I get graph paper with 1" divisions? I need to order some in for the students at work... I have searched through all the suppliers I can think of!!!! |

Martin, where I work IS backward. The head cook was cooking meals for the students on a coal fired AGA up until last year.... It's pretty amazing that I can even get online (currently at work...) I am doing the heroic thing by converting everything to metric. Gosh, it's so old fashioned here, I still get given shillings!!! 
Ooops, gotta go, the boss is coming...
